Technical + Local SEO

Hands-on website improvements, clear communication and practical priorities.

BUILT AROUND YOUR BUSINESS

Look beyond
the product template.

A store can have useful products but confusing routes, repetitive categories or gaps between its content systems. I review the storefront architecture before recommending changes, so your team receives a plan that fits its platform and catalogue rather than a generic ecommerce checklist.

Who this is for
Established retailers, B2B suppliers and growing ecommerce businesses using BigCommerce, including local retailers selling online.

WHAT THE WORK COVERS

Specialist work.
A connected plan.

A practical scope for BigCommerce SEO, with recommendations tied to your business goals and the evidence available.

01 / FOCUS

Storefront and channel baseline

Confirm whether the store uses Stencil, Catalyst or a custom headless frontend. Map priority products, categories, brands and supporting content to the channels that serve them. Record ownership of theme, hosting and integrations before assigning technical work.

02 / FOCUS

Catalogue relevance and buying guidance

Clarify category purposes, product distinctions and internal routes using approved catalogue information. Identify repetitive descriptions and missing details that leave buyers uncertain. Keep availability, compatibility and product claims under merchant review.

03 / FOCUS

Discovery and URL consistency

Review representative canonicals, indexability, navigation and sitemap coverage. Investigate filters according to customer demand and crawl behaviour. For Catalyst, inspect the page URLs within child sitemaps before treating a permanent BigCommerce domain in the index as an error.

04 / FOCUS

Release-ready priorities

Separate native content edits from theme or application changes. Prepare affected URLs, dependencies and acceptance checks for your developer. Validate important product, enquiry and purchase journeys after approved updates; integrations and checkout development require a separate scope.

A CLEAR HANDOVER

Useful outputs.
Clear next steps.

Agree on deliverables, responsibilities and access before the work starts. Recommendations and implementation are separated clearly in your scope.

01 / A storefront and channel discovery map

02 / Category and product improvement briefs

03 / A prioritised technical issue register

04 / A release and measurement checklist

PLANNING EXAMPLE / NOT A CLIENT CASE STUDY

What a practical starting point could look like.

For a hypothetical industrial supplier, product categories could be well populated while buyers cannot distinguish similar specifications. A starting plan would clarify category guidance and key attributes, then investigate whether filters create unnecessary crawl paths.

MEASURE WHAT MATTERS

Progress needs
the right context.

Review priority-page search impressions and clicks, indexing observations and organic product journeys where reporting is available. Compare meaningful enquiries or purchases alongside stock, promotions and seasonal demand. Better content or sitemap coverage does not guarantee indexing, rankings or sales.

Discuss your goals ↗

BEFORE WE BEGIN

Good questions.
Clear answers.

The right scope starts with a shared understanding of the work and its limits.

Ask a question ↗

Do you work with Catalyst and Stencil?

The review starts by identifying your architecture. Content and diagnostic work can be scoped accordingly; framework-specific development belongs with the responsible technical team unless separately agreed.

Should every filtered page be indexed?

No blanket rule fits every store. Useful demand, distinct content and crawl costs determine which destinations deserve consideration.

Is a mybigcommerce.com sitemap entry automatically wrong?

Not necessarily. In Catalyst, a sitemap index can point to child sitemaps on the permanent domain while their page URLs use the configured storefront domain. We inspect the actual files.

Does this include catalogue integrations?

Not by default. Feed management, custom integrations, platform migrations and checkout engineering need an explicit technical scope.
